Career Pathways Summer Camps

 

Click this link to learn more about and register for camps listed below: https://www.ccpartnership.org/summer-camps.  The camps are designed for high school students who will be entering their junior or senior year for the fall term, but anyone may participate. High school students will earn college credit.

 

 

Engineering, Construction and Manufacturing Summer Camp (June 12th-16th, DVC Campus) 

Explore theory and practice in a week-long activity that blends hands-on exploration, problem-solving, industry field visits, and expert industry viewpoints.  60 student limit.

 

 A culminating student showcase event takes place on the last day of camp and consistently draws attendance from approximately 120 audience members that include: students, parents, teachers, industry participants, college faculty and administrators.

Health Careers Summer Institute (June 20 - July 28, DVC Campus)

HCSI is a two-course program (Medical Terminology, Introduction to Health Careers with CPR training) that is open to high school juniors and seniors who have taken biology and want to attend DVC during the summer for college credit. HCSI activities allow students to explore their healthcare specialty of interest while offering them a foundational understanding of healthcare systems, processes, culture, ethics, and integrated professions. Students will also have the rare opportunity to visit local healthcare facilities and encounter patient-centered experiences firsthand. Course content is thoughtfully chosen and introduced to replicate trending healthcare practices and current standards so as to prepare students to excel in educational tracts and professional environments specific to healthcare.

 

Monday -Thursday, 10:30 a.m. - 2:50 p.m.
Open to juniors and seniors in high school.  Students that successfully complete all six weeks will earn six college credits.

Environmental Science Summer Camp (June 19th-23rd, Cal State East Bay- Concord Campus)

Hospitality and Culinary Industry Summer Camp (June 19th-23rd, DVC Campus)

The Hospitality and Culinary Industry Summer Camp offers an exciting overview of current and emerging career opportunities in the hospitality and culinary industry.  Practice and hands-on application of culinary techniques, skills and knowledge are combined with mini-internships at local hotel properties such as the Crowne Plaza, Hilton Concord or related businesses such as Whole Foods. Sustainability, farm-to-table, urban farming and science in the preparation of food are integrated throughout the five-day long "camp".
